I believe that quote "History is Biography". I'm also the kind of person who likes to capture the zeitgeist, as opposed to the same Great Depression and the million wars, the highs and lows, but not really knowing what life was like. I always like talking to old people for that reason - they lived in a time I didn't, and won't be around much longer, and we're disconnected enough.
